I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have an geforce 8800gt graphics card and a samsung 2493hm 24" monitor and for some reason I can't get the resolution to the native resolution of the monitor at 1920x1200. The max res I can set is 1920x1080. I have downloaded the most recent drivers for both devices but still have the same problem. Anyone have any ideas? Running on Vista

???Don't understand...
You mean you can't get above 1900x1080?

Yeah the highest I can set it is 1920x1080 but I want it to run 1920x1200.

Are you trying to set a custom res or using the drop down defaults?

I'm using the defaults in the nVidia control panel and the display settings in windows. Both only go up to 1920x1080. How would I change the settings from 16:9 to 16:10? I have not seen any options to set the aspect ratio.

Yeah for some reason my nvidia control panel doesn't have the tab to set custom resolutions. Don't know why.

Which driver revision are you using?

[:mousemonkey:2] Sounds like a reinstall or an update to newer drivers might be in order as I'm still on the 169.21 drivers on this rig.

Yeah I don't know pretty lost. The tech support at evga told me to use driver cleaner pro to wipe out all the old drivers. I did that and after reinstalling both new drivers for the monitor and the video card I still have the same problem. They also told me to set the custom resolution in the nvidia like you suggested but for some reason I don't have that tab on my control panel (under advanced settings).

Tried hooking up my old comp through vga and it had the 1920x1200 setting but the screen was in the scrolling mode where it moves around. Is there a chance the monitor is defective or am I just missing something here?

Have you tried NOT installing the monitor drivers?, if so then I can only think that it might have something to do with Fis.. I mean Vista and as I refuse to run that I can't think of anything else to try. Sorry mate.

I have tried just using the basic vga driver and the highest setting is 1680x1050. I just talked to customer service at samsung which just told me to upgrade my video card. Lame service. He said it probably isn't compatible which doesn't make any sense since they are both relatively new products. Anyways thanks for trying to help out!

Anyone else out there have the combination of a Samsung 2493hm monitor and evga 8800gt video card?

ferne97,

Ever found a solution?
I have the same monitor but different video card.

Im not able to set it to 1920x1200, if I attempt to, it forces it down to 800x640 which is just sad! The max I can reach is 1920x1080 but that leaves black borders all around the image displayed.

My card is a Gigabyte 8600GT 512mb

Printer useage
By fihart, 1 day ago:

Most go into sleep mode which presumably saves power and the printer starts more quickly than if it runs through the test routines usual when first powering up. I always turn my printer off after use -- but then I don't do much printing.
