More Information

I seem to be having an issue with getting this system working.. my setup is as followed:

Asus Striker II Formula (with updated bios 1101)
8 gigs DDR2 800 (SLI ready memory) (2gigs installed to get this thing going) (OCZ SLI memory)
2x8800 GTS 512mb (SLI - only running with 1 right now to figure out whats wrong)
1000watt PSU
Cooler Master Stacker 830 Case
pioneer DVD+-R/RW drive
500gb wd sata2 drive

Ok, I turn the computer on, does its post check, etc.. cool, everything works.. I have my vista 64 (even tried 32bit) dvd in the drive.
it asks me about using the dvd/cd, i say yes.. it says its copying files from the dvd to computer, and when it gets to the colorful install screen,
I have my cursor, but it hangs.. it does nothing

If I take my hard drive out of my other build and use it (mind you, this has windows vista 64 already installed working on another machine),
it starts to boot into windows.. has the line that crawls across the screen.. then looks like it blue screens real fast then goes black, then
the machine reboots.

I do not know what to do next?! I have tried all the sticks of memory and it does the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not looking to over clock yet.. just want to get windows installed...

Thank you,
J

I am sorry, let me give you more stats and information:

Striker II formula (know i know why people hate it)
q6600 CPU
8 gigs of OCZ pc800 memory (only 2 gigs installed)
2 8800 gts 512mb OC video cards (only 1 installed)
500GB sata HD with vista64 preinstalled (from other game machine)

Now.. even when i remove this 500GB drive and install the new one, it does the same thing..

I can get it to post, i can go into the setup, i can do everything with the board...

BUT... If I boot off a cd/dvd, I will use the vista installation dvd for example..

it copies files like it says, then gets into the program.. NOW.. it gets to the good part... i get the nice vista install background ONLY.. my mouse cursor.. and nothing.. it does nothing... drive doesn't run, its not locked up.. i can move the mouse.. just... nothing.. nothing to click.. etc..

NOW... if I boot off the preinstalled hard drive... it posts, goes through everything and starts with the vista load bar that goes from left to right.. like normal, like 1 second into that, it gives me the BSOD (flashes real fast) and goes to a black screen, then machine reboots.

About to dump asus for abit or some other company.. even asus forums are rediculous with this crap..

More Information

Well, after a lack of support from asus and technical websites on this motherboard, i think i will move on to a different company. I finally got this board to the point where it asks me my language etc.. at the start of installing vista, took 2 minutes to get to that point.. thats rediculous.. my wifes dell doesn't take that long when I had to reinstall her vista... that is from the point where the "copying files..." ended and the colorful screen popped up...

Any suggestions on a good gaming motherboard without all the issues like asus brand?!? need Intel Socket 775 with SLI

Thank you

More Information

I know this isn't really going to fix the under lying problem but it does work and since i have done it, my pc no longer crashes (blue screen), the problem is with the nvidia chipset and SATA drives - after trying everything i could think of to fix the problem i replaced my SATA HDD with a IDE HDD and it works perfectly - at least i can use this motherboard normally now and play all my games, so people to get around the problem for the time being untill ASUS gets there act together and provides proper drivers for SATA drives or addresses the problem with a bios update, replace your SATA HDD's with IDE HDD's and you should all be happy campers ;-)

Current Setup:
ASUS Formula Striker II MB
Intel Q6660 2.4GHz Quad Core CPU
A-Data 4GB Kit RAM
ASUS 20x SATA DVD-RW
Geforce 8500GT (i need a better GPU)
Cooler Master Elite 330 Case
Cooler Master Extreme 500W Power Supply
160GB Seagate IDE HDD (which was out of my old PC, replacing the 500GB SATA HDD)
Windows XP SP3
