Windows Media Player not playing DVD Dialogue

Forum Windows Vista : General Discussion Windows Media Player not playing DVD Dialogue

When I try to play a DVD in Windows Media Player sound will play normally, but all the dialogue won't, as if it is muted.

I've fixed this before in other programs by switching the sound from Surround to Stereo. I can't find a way to do this in WMP though, and my other program that I usually use isn't working at all.

Is there some setting on my computer itself I'm missing?

(Also I have messed around in WMP to try and fix this. So far no luck. I assumed it might be a DVD specific thing, so I went under Options>DVD but there isn't anything that can help me there, and the Advanced button was grayed out.)

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Try Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Volume and select the speaker type from the drop down box.

Try and download Media Player Classic which is a more improved and enhanced version of Windows Media Player. The highly advance attributes of this application can make the DVD dialogue playable.

Your link goes to a site which doesn't offer an "enhanced version of Windows Media Player" if for no better reason than it isn't even a Microsoft product. The site's writers can't even speak English and the product is probably expensive.

Do your other seven posts point to the same place?
