I created a recovery disk on a DVD-R and would like to find out how to use it to take my system back to that state.

When you created it, would have told you. Look in that same application again.

Or just boot off the disk, should have prompts you just follow. Keep in mind if this is a true restore to factory defaults disk it will wipe out everything on the drive just like the computer was new.
