Windows Vista Cant shut down Search Results

I used the SEARCH Folder in my VISTA and now the SEARCH RESULTS window that says: "To begin, type in the search box" won't go away. no matter how I try to exit, even with Task Manager to end the task. It goes out temporarily but then it spawns 20 more identical windows. I have NAV 360 Premier on my machine and it finds no virus's or mal or spyware. I tried to recover to an earlier checkpoint using the Vista Backup and Recover Program but it begins but doesn't complete successfully! Any ideas?
By the way I'm glad I found your website again! I used to use it for info years ago when I built my first PC ! You've come a long way! Bravo!
