I do see the Xiggy in the number 2 spot and note that it costs less than the others.

yeah, i thought the hype was that is was good price/performance wise. i wonder if you can lap a heatsink down to the pipes if it would increase performance =P

I actually wouldn't recommend the S-1283 unless heat is an issue, either from overclocking or ambient room temp. And I always recommend the bracket with it... but then it costs more than the Sunbeam.

I just don't like the Sunbeam system for attaching the cooler.

If there were more options for bolt-through installations on coolers that would be great.

I like all copper units for their looks, but note that none of them are competing right now. If one of these HDTs came with copper fins I would be all over it.

Lots of good coolers out there. If yours works for your application and price point, more power to ya. Mine works for me.

The Xig is pretty easy to install. I got the bracket at NewEgg, and the thing went on no problem. It's cheap, and people have done empirical tests showing that it does a pretty good job. That's why I'm using it. I don't need the best, I need "pretty good" and "not too expensive". The Xig fit that bill.

The rubbery prongs that attach the fan to the heatsink were kind of a pain to figure out, but after thinking about it, they went on without too much struggle. Have to make sure you install Xig and its fan _before_ putting the motherboard back in the case.

But this has heatpipe direct touch, which the zalman doesn't, and has a larger surface area. It beats the zalman, always.

Frankly I found the Zalmans to be over hyped back when they were still relevant performance wise. They looked neat, but never topped the chart on any list I saw. Certainly didn't win any price/performance ratio battles. The Xigametek on the other hand has been tied for the lead since it came out. Only big dif. between it and the Sunbeam is that the Sunbeam is shorter, which was why I picked it cause I have a fan directly over my cpu on my side window (still barely fits).

I paid 35 for my Xigy, got my temps to a max of 49
why pay 10 to 30 bucks more on a cooler that performs 2 degrees better to 10 degrees worse thats 10 to 50% bigger and 10 to 50% heavier...

Well actually, if the duorb performed better and was dual red fans id be all over it
