well i'm gonna guess that you wanna try overclocking?

oh yea lol sorry I wasnt more specific

well really none of that information is all that important. if you wanna experiment with overclocking, get into your BIOS and raise the clock frequency a bit. i'd suggest you don't touch the voltage until you know what you're doing a bit more.

ok thanks...what temps should i worry about?

anything below 60 is good =]

30-50 is desirable.

once you hit a certain frequency your pc will crash simply up the voltage one notch if you want to keep overclocking but also watch your temps when you bump voltage.

also one roadblock i inquired also was make sure you have the right memory voltage. undervolted memory will result in crashes while OC'ing.

PM me if you need anymore help. i got my good old 3600+ to 2.8ghz but decided it was too hot.

well i have the same setup as you in my dad's computer and i just gave him the stock opteron cooler with the copper base. its silent and it keeps the cpu cool at 30 C. just scrape off the thermal paste and replace with AS5 or that Ceramique stuff. should do you good.

awesome tyvm

excellent...after some tinkering, I got FSB up to 227(default 200) 230 locks up.
So now Im @ 3187MHz. Originally @ 2800. No Increase in temp at all, is that normal? Well the cpu fan is 500rpm faster at idle though. Thanks again

Edit...i ran the stability test on Everest & got a harware failure so I lowered the FSB to an even 220 & after 20 min I had no problems....need a quieter fan now though haha

now how do I OC memory :D

ok that wall you hit could be your memory acting up. Or a need to up the voltage. first try bumping up the memory voltage so it can run at the higher frequency. or relax your timings. Also try changing the divider for the CPU/RAM ratio to ddr2 667.

Just look around BIOS for these options. it should say either memvolt or something along those lines. and also look for timings lower timings equals faster executions. a good basic timing is 4-4-4-12

what kind of ram do you have?
