I have read a few other posts about overclocking on the Asus P5Q Pro, but so far none on the E8400 with a stock cooler. I'm running:

-Asus P5Q Pro (stock cooler for now)
-E8400
-4gigs Corsair DDR2 800

My last motherboard, Gigabyte 965P-DQ6, seemed much easier to overclock than this one, with all of it's options i feel a bit confused.

How can i take this processor to 3.6~ghz without increasing the core voltage? If successful, i will probably buy an aftermarket cooler and take it to the max, voltage and all.

Thanks.

I have exact same specs as you cept my Corsair kit is 2GB.

I haven't tried OC'ing yet but have read a lot about it the last few days...

As far as I've seen, the e8400 only goes up to 3.6Ghz until more voltage and better cooling are needed. This guide might be useful to you:

Read the guide, basically in the bios, up the fsb to 400, make sure ClE and speedstep is disable, leave everything else on auto and then check temps and run prime95 small ffts (10 to 12 hrs) to check cpu stability. Disable pci-e spectrum and the other spectrum (don't remember what it is called)
