I'm currently playing with a new build and I need some guidance with the FSB and DRAM. I have 1066MHz DDR2 G Skill (2x2Gbs), and a Q6600 OC'd currently to 3.2GHz with an FSB of 400MHz and multiplier of 8. This leaves my FSBRAM ratio at 3:4. I was wondering if I should underclock the ram to get 1:1, or what the best way to set this up would be.
You can go either way, 1066 or 800 with tighter timings, with little difference in performance. 1066 at 3:4 runs hotter than 800 at 1:1. I would probably go 800 at 1:1 and tighten the timings to reduce the RAM and MCH temp. Just my preference.
