More Information

A new BIOS revision is floating around for the GA-X38-DQ6.

BIOS F8b (25/01/08): http://rapidshare.com/files/86546115/x38dq6.f8b.html

According to them (a French web-site) it is entirely official and working properly (for those who've been testing it): http://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/Hardw [...] 1768_1.htm

I myself haven't tried it yet, but I think I might give it a go, since I am having low results with over-clocking for my Memory (Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500, for example refusing to POST at 4-4-4-12 2T at 2.0V, 2.1V, 2.25V, 2.3V or 2.35V). So far BIOS F7 has served me well for the CPU over-clocking though, and it is a very stable BIOS too. So I'm still unsure if I'm going to try that F8b, but I'll see about that later this week (I never like to Flash a BIOS, either from Windows or the BIOS itself... it's always stressful, but at least the GA-X38-DQ6 has a back-up BIOS just in case, however I hope I won't ever have to use it).

Anyone willing to take the plunge to F8b and let everyone know what has changed?

P.S/ If you try it, don't forget to unveil the hidden options that might have been added with that new BIOS, by pressing CTRL + F1 in the main menu.

I would never risk flashing a bios with something that is still out in the wild. I will wait for the official bios version to appear on the Gigabyte web site, and a list of what the changes are.
