Right. I want to push my Q6600 G0 to 3.6GHz but I'm wondering if the heat generated by doing this will harm my system.

I have a Mid Tower Case with a huge side fan that blows air onto the whole motherboard. I also have 2 Yate Loon D12SM-12 120mm Fans, one in the front for intake and one in the back of the case as an exhaust with the processor itself is coupled with an AC7.

What I'm wondering though is this good enough airflow to keep my processor at a reasonable temperature while running at 3.6GHz? Keeping in mind I am used to heat as I'm coming from a Pentium D.

I'm sorry, but there is no way you are getting 3.6ghz on an ac7 with sub 65 temps.

First of all the two front and rear fans in my case are 70.50 CFM... Thats pretty high considering their only 28db. And I'm not sure of my ambient temp but it's definitely not hot. Not even warm... I live in London.

Edit: Lol Asian PingPong erm, what could I hit then without getting overly hot.

Depends what the vid on your q6600 is. Something ridiculous like 1.2v may get you to 3.5-3.6 if your ambient temperatures are low enough. 3.3-3.4 Should be manageable.
Also, use a good thermal paste like OCZ freeze or AS5, not the crappy stuff pre applied on the ac7.

Sorry about that I missed it. I think you should be able to reach that. The AC7 is a very good cooler although the Q6600 does put off a lot of heat but as long as your getting it out of the case quickly which it looks like you are you shouldn't have a problem.

Its going to be hard keeping temps below 70 with the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro. Its possible if your cpu doesn't need too much volts to get to 3.6ghz.

I don't think it's safe to go past 3.2 with ACF7P. Get a better cooler, preferably with good thermal grease to overclock that high.

I too think it's difficult to manage 3.6GHz with good temps, but hey, Anandtech somewhat managed it. It's worth giving a shot.

The rear fan is the most important fan in your case. You might want to replace it with some 100+CFM fan, such as the Ultra Kaze that runs 3000RPM. You should see temp drop of up to 5C.
