Well I build this system a few months ago, it was a budget system so I got a e2180/ga-p35-ds3l to overclock and get more bang for buck.

Its been running perfectly fine this whole time (and still is). I prime 95 for 14 hours 0 errors and all. But the other day I was just curious to see what cpuz was reporting on my cpu. When I first did the OC, my set vcore was 1.39 I think. But when I opened up cpuz, it said my vcore was 1.280! And thats at 3.02 ghz! I know that the cpu throttles itself when in idle to save power, so I brought up prime 95 to get some load on my cpu.

And still the same thing! 3.02 ghz at 1.280 vcore.

Am I going crazy or something?
Maybe my cpu just "broke itself in" to the point where it doesnt need so much voltage? I doubt that though.

Anyone?

What is your Vcore set to right now in the BIOS?

1.28v is very nice for a 1ghz OC!

What version of Prime95 are you running? It looks like you only have 1 core being worked. When you launch Prime95 make sure you are using 2 threads. That will really stress your CPU and system. Both cores should be at 100% usage. Check for Prime95 v. 25.6 and the correct 32bit or 64bit.

I have Vista 64 and I just ran a Prime95 test, with just 1 thread. My CPU history looks just like yours, the thread workload is being shared by both cores. So in essence you're not really stressing your system at all.

Ok i Downloaded prime 95 v 25.6. I had the old one and thats why it wasnt stressing 100%. Thanks for the tip flyin15sec.

Ok so i went into bios, and it says my vcore is 1.31

But cpu z still says vcore of 1.28

huh?!

Yes, the heavier the load on the CPU, the more the voltage will drop. 0.03V drop is tiny -- congrats on a nice budget OC!

What you are seeing is Vdroop, you set it in BIOS, but in actual it reads less. Motherboards are built that way to protect itself. Some boards have less vdroop then others, some boards don't have any at all.

Hmmm ok Thanks soo much for the help so far you guys. But now another porblem has happend.

When I change the bus speed, its doesnt say i did in cpu-z. my bus speed stays at 200 regardeless of what i did in the bios. Why is that? Now no matter what i do in the bios, my cpu never goes higher than 2.00 ghz in windows, even though the bios reads it at 30x10. hmm.
What can be happining now?

I've got an e2180 as well, at 2.66GHz voltage set to auto CPU-z reads 1.25 Vcore.

I run into some stability issues above this as I don't have a downward facing fan and I think the northbridge (or something on the mobo) may be overheating.

CPU-z (v1.44.2) shows a 266.1MHz bus speed for me, but the cpu specification reads as Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.0GHz.

My system properties (Windows key + break, is a handy shortcut) reads:
Intel Pentium Dual CPU
E2180 @ 2.0GHz
2.66GHz, 2.00GB of Ram.

Hmm well i got home from school today, reset the cmos, and everything is now back to normal!
