Here is what I am doing. I go into my motherboard's bios into the MB Intelligent Tweaker I try and change my: FSB (291) (, Multiplier(9x), and System Memory Multiplier(3.3). I have all my voltages to auto right now as I'm only trying to do a small overclock from 2.4 to 2.6 just to test.

M problem is this. Whenever I save these settings and windows boots, my cpu is still clocked at 2.4ghz. The multiplier is automatically lowering from 9x to 6x to try and keep me at 2.4ghz. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I haven't installed the latest bios or installed my motherboard cd because I'm not experiencing any problems besides what I'm describing. Any suggestions?

Check the battery(it holds your settings)

The mem multi, is that for 1066?(looks like you would get 960) if it is you may need to increase the chipset voltage. The P35 chip was never designed to run 1066. Try lower and see if it sticks.

If it does not boot right it may load fail safe and take your settings away.

Well, I don't know what happened, but I just had to change the mem multi for 1066 to 800 rated ram speed and the SPD is at 750.

In cpuz, the computer is showing the right fsb I have set, but it is lowering the multiplier from 9x to 6x. I have no idea what's wrong.

I have the same motherboard and tried a small overclock just for the heck of it and um it set the voltage up to 1.4 V of 1.15 on my wolfdale. Idk if this is accurate just a thought

No, that's not a good idea. Try doing your "small" OC with the Vcore on auto or set to the VID of your chip. Why cook the CPU for no reason.

Maybe you should read this - HOWTO: Overclock C2Q (Quads) and C2D (Duals) - Guide v1.6.1

That doesnt even make sense. Step away from the crack pipe please....

I'm trying to figure this out. He said it set the Vcore up to 1.4, so maybe he means 1.14. I either case he should read the guide.
