Hehe, another 1.3250 VID processor! I Love it. Damn Intel. 3.6 @ 1.440 Loaded or around there! Thats what you can expect from that chip. Your boards VDrop seems minimal, and it should support some version of load line calibration, so turn it on!

Set yer VCore at 1.5000 in the bios, the NB voltage to 1.43, and use your 800 Mhz ram! Set the FSB to 400, Memory ratio to 1:1 or sync mode, Lock the PCIe bus to 100 Mhz, Turn off static read control, or transaction booster or any of those that effect ram, Disable all the spread spectrum junk you can find! Disable all CPU functions like C1e, vanderpool, disable bit. All but internal CPU cache.

Save and re boot! Yee haw!!

Oopsie, test with Prime 95 with the samll FFT on all cores. Watch your Current VCore value with CPUz. You want it near 1.45ish. But we set it a lil high, hopefully, just to be sure its stable.

If the testing runs hours long, lower the VCore a notch, or lower it to about 1.45 (loaded) and test.

If it fails after a while, add a notch and try again!

DS4, bios version f3.
Go into bios ->
Select MB Intelligent Tweaker ->
In the MB Intelligent Tweaker screen, set:
CPU clock ratio: 8x
cpu host clock control: enable
cpu host clock frequency: 400
PCI Express frequency: 100
C.I.A.2: disable
Performance Enhance: standard
System memory multiplier: [2.66D]
Dram Timing Selectable: Manual
Standard Timing control:
6
6
6
18
System voltage control: manual
DDR2
Overvoltage: +0.2 to +0.4 (depends on your memory's rated voltage.
Overvoltage starts with 1.8volts base. If ram is rated to run at
2.0volts, it's 1.8+0.2=2.0volts. If ram is rated to run at 2.2 volts,
it's 1.8+0.4=2.2volts.) Running at higher voltage increases stability,
but also increase heat. Running at voltage higher that memory's rated
voltage can damage it.
Loadline Calibration: Enable
CPU Voltage
Control: 1.4 to 1.5, higher voltage increases stability, but produce
more heat. Try 1.4 first, if unstable, try 1.45, if still unstable, try
1.5. Do not go over 1.5.

Leave everything else at default.

If your system does not run stable, set System Memory Multiplier to [2.00D] to downclock it from 1066mhz to 800mhz.

If
your system is stress tested stable, you can choose to tightening ram
timing(Standard Timing Control) for a small performance increase.
6/6/6/18 is high, the lower those numbers, the faster it runs.

Those settings are for 3.2ghz on Q6600. If your system stress tested stable, set CPU Clock Ratio to 9x for 3.6ghz.

Before you overclock, install a good aftermarket cooler with thermal grease/thermal compound. Do not overclock on stock cooler.

Copy & pasted from an earlier post I wrote for someone else, based on my own bios settings.

You should remove the sticks of slow ram before ocing. It'll cause problems. Use same specs ram.

I see 2 sticks of DDR 667.

Your best start is to set the fsb to 333 and go for 3.0 then work from there. The jump from 3.0 to 3.6 eats about an extra 100 watts so make sure the psu is a good one.

Make sure the ram is set to 1:1 (gigabyte may call this a ram multiplier of 2.0)

Also with your board(gigabyte boards in general) to access all the extra features hit CTRL + F1 when you first enter the bios. All the options you need should be under Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker.

Always test with prime95 and try to keep the load temps under 65 MAX(B3, under 60 is better) or under 75 MAX(G0, under 70 is better). The lower the temps the better. My G0 @ 3.0(stock voltage) is 45,45,48,50 in a 22c room(i just cleaned the fans and wow 5-7 c cooler) at load.

Ahh! Dagger since my motherboard is the same as youra, i used your settings to try 3.6GHz and it was a no go! But I am using the f7 BIOS which is the latest version, IMO should I have stayed with the F3? And if so, how do I downgrade??? Thanks.

Lol, I didn't know they released so many versions. Haven't checked. If anything, new versions should be better, not worse.

Did you remove the sticks of slow ram? If not, that's what's holding you back. Remove them and see if it works.

Edit: Opps, you're someone else, not OP, lol... :na:

Then it's not stable, reinstalling windows won't help. Increase CPU Voltage to 1.5, and see if it runs stable.

Use prime95 for stress test:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Other [...] me95.shtml

If stress tested stable for at least 30 minutes, restart and slowly decrease CPU Voltage to the point where it starts to lose stability, then tune it up a notch. The goal is finding the lowest vcore needed to run stable, and keep it there.
