The Mac Pro is socket 771 with a 5000x chipset. Penryn processors that use a 1333FSB should work. The 1600FSB processors will not work.

No such thing as a Penryn Mac Pro. The 1st gen Mac Pros all have Woodcrest (Xeon 5100 series) processors. The 2nd gen have Clovertowns and the 3rd gen (8-core) have Harpertowns.
