Hey guys,

I'm trying currently to get my QX9650 stable at 4ghz but am suffering major vdroop on my eVGA 780i. Just wondering if anyone knew of any mods eg pencil mods to try and keep my voltage more stable.

Thanks

Hmm. I will take a peek a lil later and see what I can find! The 780i chipset does have a huge VDroop, as I have been saying. Nice of someone else to notice it!

Any idea what yers is? Mine started at a base of .06 off the top. And got to .08 near 1.5 volts. Thats sad. And that hurts us OCers! Waaaahhh! If only the 780i had LLC!

I am sure there is a mod somewhere. Because like you seen too, the VDroop is way to much, and forces you to set your Bios VCore high, and its idle in windows will be high... meaning it'll do alot of idling at a high voltage for nothing! (as opposed to my maximus formula, which has a definable .02500 VDrop and +.0008 VDroop! Yup, it goes up a tiny bit! Makes all the difference.)

Thanks Lupiron. Yes your right in saying that it hurts us OC'ers! I really want to run stable at 4ghz but I just need a rediculous vcore that is simply too much for a 45nm CPU. Just out of interest what other parts are you using with your eVGA 780i?

I wish we had LLC as well - I think some 780i boards have it but annoyingly its only the Asus ones which I wouldn't go near again for an Nvidia chipset after my experiences with a 680i Striker Extreme.

I'm going to keep looking around. Apparently the mod is the same as the one for 680i boards so I should be able to find a 680i guide and try to copy it. Tell me if you find anything.
