k so basically tried overclock my vidcard in rivatuner and tick the apply setting at start up.but once restart the pc check again the setting is back to default.the oc doesnt stick. =(

Yes.... ^^^ apply settings on start up and a pop up will come up in which case you click detect now. Also make sure you are testing your overclock with ATI tool and 3dmark06.
