Im thinking of getting a SATA150 DVD-RW drive, but will that slow my SATA300 hard drives down to 150 or does each SATA device work independently?

Thanks

They work independently, your HDD will still run at SATA/300

however there would not be any performance decrease if your HDD was capped at SATA/150 anyway.

SATA 150 means 1.5 Gbps transfer rate. That's way more than an optical drive needs. It's about twice what the best HDDs need, too.
No worries.

Still, why would you buy an older drive, when a perfectly good modern burner is under $30?

Maybe Dabs is not a good place to shop... They only have that burner, no other models, really weird...

Try this one:
SH-S203D, black
