I gave my W.D HD to a local store to RMA 6.5 wks ago...and still haven't receive the drive back yet...I phone them many times..At some point they said the drive is coming..then later denied they say that...Today I ask them for the RMA # and they didn't want to give to me..instead will "look" into it..

I forgot to take down the drive s/n but would like to call W.D anyway, however can't get the RMA Tel # on W.D website..If someone have it can u give to me?

Thanks!

you should take it up with the store...
if they can't give you the right answer demand a new drive from them...
soon as you gave it to the store it is their respnosability...

I understand now...Basically like u said, they batch ship the RMA drives (That explain why the guy hestitate to give me the RMA #) I am located in Canada so the drive will go to Ontario (as stated on W.D website)...Now will W.D ship individual drive back or batch them??

I am not in a hurry to get the drive back since I don't need it, but since I forgot to take the drive S/N I can only rely on the store to find out what happen.

If I ever have to do it again I would handle the RMA myself.
Thanks for the replies.

If can, can. If no can, no can.

What kind of store are you dealing with? Seven weeks is too long.
Its not WD's fault either.
Do you have any paper work from the store that you returned it to them for warranty ?

I don't know

Wow tom's hardware is now the computer 411 line! Gotta love that.

It would be great to know a few things, 1. What store was it? 2. Why would you have them rma it for you? 3. was it part of a computer you bought or just a retail boxed drive?

Usually unless you go to geek squad or something, don't they just refer you to the manufacturere themselves? You know, sorry about your drive, but we can't do anything for you, go to westerndigital's website or phone them at this number?

It sounds like they didn't give the rma number to you, if they did you could check on it yourself.

If it was sent to your house, its possible it was stolen off the door step or something or delivered wrong, but without a rma number, can't do much can you.

Bummer, always do stuff yourself if you want it done right.

Also, why bother calling WD anyway? Without an RMA number or serial number, and its not even submitted under your name to them. What are you going to say? Yeah I have this drive I gave to a store who rma'd it, no I don't have an rma number or a serial number and no the drive isn't registered to me.

You do realize waht they will say right? Sorry sir, no way to figure that out, im not a psychic who has supernatural powers that can find your drive, and see the status.

Also what was the size of the drive, and when did you buy it and where? If it was a 200 dollar 1tb or 750gb drive, its a bummer.

Fun fun.
