Hi,
I have not changed any settings and yet my Internet speed has gone.
Web Pages take ages and downloads max out at 55Kb/s
I am using BT Broadband Uk at about 3mbs Down and 400Kb/s up yet my speeds have just crashed.
Any Ideas Please

E8400 WOLFDALE @ 3.6 GHZ
GIGABIT ETHERNET WITH LINKSYS ROUTER
VISTA PREMIUM 64 BIT
8 GIGS OF RAM
1TB OF HDD

run a speed test on a big site like... speakeasy.net . Google "Speakeasy speed test" should be the first link. Run a test and tell us your results. The answer may be as simple as that. If your upload is capped or suffering then your DL wont be good.

 

Also are you on DSL or Cable? I would assume cable? May be getting a poor signal if you have too many cable splitters before your modem. Verify that you have the first split off your cable line going to your modem. Also verify that the splitter is not rusted. I had a friend with a rusted splitter getting poor speeds because if it.

 

lastly move your mouse over your internet icon on your taskbar. Make sure you are connected at 100mbps or 1gbps. if its 10mbps youve got a problem with your local network.

677kb/s Down and 340 up
All my Internet says is Local and Internet...??
ADSL Broadband, not Cable, I have Replaced Filters ect no joy

well judging by your speed test result, your internet connection is operating normally.

IPV6 shouldnt make a difference whether its enabled or not.

I would focus your concern on your pc. Make sure there isnt any spyware/virus running in the background eating up your bandwidth.

Second check for programs like bittorrent, they can easily use up your internet connection.

If you have wireless, make sure your connection is secure, and your neighbor isn't using it for free.

run the speed test a couple of more times at different times of the day. just to make sure it tests consistently. if it doesnt, it could be one of the above,

if it does test consistently with good numbers like 600/300 your internet is fine, its something on your local network or your computer.

Try removing IPV6 and see how it does. I have found it can cause problems.
