I tested out a few ramdrive software products this weekend. For those unfamiliar, this is software that allows you to put a virtual hard drive on your ram. It then creates an image file which saves your work between session.

For a test, I added an Access DB file and my Internet Web Cache to the ramdrive to see if it would improve performance.

The results were undeniable - it was MUCH faster. In Access, complex searches that used to take 5 to10 seconds to complete were instantaneous. Even large webpages loaded instantly.

But my concern is, is this hurting my ram (4GB 6400 DDR2) in some way?

Also, who makes the best package for the money?

Hurting your ram? Note in the slightest.
Data can be corrupted, so if you plan on putting critical files on your Ram drive, then I would suggest ECC ram if your motherboard supports it.

and maybe you could reply to my ?, about the 4gig mark. will it work this way, by setting 2gigs for the OS, and 2gigs to the ram drive. will it perform very well. cuz, i'm only useing 2gigs right now... and its very nice. i'm wondering if 4gigs will work even better.

the part about , will it hurt it... i dont think so... i'v had a ram drive on my xp 32bit, for about 1 year. and had no problems... just dont save and work to it... i just use it for a swp file... just to make my games screem.

and your last ?, if you want to know where to get a full registered ver. that can do 2gigs or more... let me know... i have the software, and it only costs 5.00 $us i can give you the CO. info
