Hey everyone, I needed your guys' opinion on this motherboard. I'm building a new rig & will get the Q6600 and would like to find a mobo that will work nicely with it. I've looked at some ASUS & Gigabyte boards and wanted to see your opinions on

I just like it b/c of the wi-fi, IEEE, & I figure I'd just use regular DDR2 800 RAM unless someone else has a better alternative. Again I don't plan on overclocking and just running things normally. I don't think it can use DDR3 though, just trying to better future proof myself so I won't have to reinstall a new mobo just a year or two down the road. I'm comparing this board to Gigabyte's P35s, but I don't know the difference between the P35-DS3, P35C, DS4, DQ6. I just wish there was the good ole P35 -bam then that's it. Oh well if you guys can shed some light, it'd be appreciated. Thanks!

I am currently using this mainboard with the Q6600 also running Server 2003 64bit and it hasnt let me down yet. Big fan of ASUS. Some complain that the wifi is on a USB conrtoller but im yet to have a problem with it. I believe the P5K-E is the best value for money ASUS P35 out there. DDR2-800 is good pairing with this boarda and CPU without OCing, as for DDR3 atm it is expensive and shows little performance gain if any. Never owned a Gigabyte board but they are highly recommended, i think the DS3 is the best pick on that side of things.

Sounds good. The whole Wi-Fi being on a USB controller doesn't bother me much. The DS3 is very appealing, but it doesn't have a IEEE controller on it. I guess that can be fixed if I get a sound card, but then again I guess it's probably not used all that often either. Thanks for your feedback

I'm proud of myself,because i'm from IRAN
