I currently have a RAID-0 Array of 4 disks on my MB and want to move the RAID to another system.

The RAID is on the motherbord's Raid controler (Tyan K8WE). I wanted to know if its possible - to actually move the disks to another system. Will the data just show up if i hook it up same way and Punch in RAID-0 on the new motherboard?

New system is: Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6, and keep all the data intact?
Ofcourse i would back up the data to another set of disks - but if i could just move the RAID, then i wouldnt have to bother with all the data transfer of 1.3TBs that will take like a whole day to do probably.

The K8WE Raid controler is : NVIDIA nForce RAID Class Controller
The GA-X38-DQ6 controler is: Intel® Matrix Storage Technology

Im guessing that the RAID controlers have something to do with this being possible. I cant seem to find it exactly but from what im reading on the specs sheets; So im not shure if thats the exact name for the RAID controlers on the motherbords.

No, those two RAID controllers are very different, and store the RAID metadata on the disks in their own proprietary formats. You will have to backup the data, move the drives, redefine the RAID, and copy the data back.

Thanks. Thats what i thought.

If you used the utility in the controller's BIOS - no
If you use Windows Disk Management to create the RAID - yes.

Anyway you cut it, I would recommend obtaining a copy of Ghost :) hmmm also you should just reinstall the OS and start from scratch. (but keep all your pictures and crap of course)
