More Information

I'm currently running a P4 2.8Ghz Northwood 400mhz Bus and one 512MB DDR333 stick and one 1GB DDR400 stick, without any problem on a Gigabyte GA-8I848PM.

I'm thinking of buying an Asrock P4VM900 for the PCI-E and SATA2 support but I want to be sure my CPU and RAM can be moved over. I asked Asrock, pointing out that my CPU isn't on their Supported CPU lists for the P4VM890/900 but they just told me to check their Supported CPU lists! Is there any conceivable reason why my CPU wouldn't work on the P4VM900? I've noticed that it's not on the list for my Gigabyte motherboard either, but it definitely works fine.

As for the RAM, Asrock said:
"For the RAM issue, we do not recommend to use different memory modules together. Different timing and capacity may cause the system unstable."

Does the fact that the RAM's happily working together in my Gigabyte mean that it will also work in the Asrock, or is the latter more fussy/unstable?
