Could anyone please point me to some good articles on how to hardwire a home for a computer network? I.E., in my situation, I want to have a hardwire connection from my computer room downstairs up to my gameroom upstairs. I want this to look as professional as possible, such as ethernet jacks in the walls, etc.

Thanks in advance.

you could save a load of time\money and hassle by just using something like the netgear homeplug network connectors. these simply plug into your power sockets and transfer internet\files with no setup needed.

It isn't that hard to do a Wired Network. You can get the jacks that have the color coded on the side of them that tell you which wire to punch down. You should use the "B" wiring instead of the "A" wiring, as "B" is the standard. On the other end you can run wire the jack the same. The hardest part is pulling the cable through an attic or wall. You can get a "punch Tool" to set the wires into the jacks. All of the wire, jacks, and tools are available at Home Depot, Frys, and a lot of other local retail shops. I like a website called monoprice. They have pretty good pricing. Hope that helps.
