Hi sbhargao,

Your Network icon is showing cross mark because your cable is unplugged , if this Cable is Connected you should check if the Ethernet Drivers are installed or not on your System. and then you have to check another end of this Cable is Connected or not on the Switch .

if Connected you should check the the Network Adapter if it is Enabled or Disabled . if this is Disable then you need to Enable it.

to check Network Adapter Settings follow this -:

go to CONTROL PANEL -> NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER -> click on CHANGE ADAPTER SETTINGS -> Right click on Network Adapter icon and check this Enabled or Disabled .

Keep Trying no matter how hard it seems ------ it will get easier.

1.

Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
2.

Right-click the network adapter, and then do one of the following:
*

To disable the network adapter, click Disable. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
*

To enable the network adapter, click Enable. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

If you disable the adapter, you have to enable it again to connect to a network.
