So I just bought a Western Digital 500GB External HDD with eSATA. So I just ordered my eSATA cable from newegg (SIIG eSATA to eSATA), and the transfer rate is god awful slow. When using USB I was able to transfer 2GB worth of shows in maybe a min or so, to do half that with the eSATA port was taking over 20mins!...

I have it plugged into my P5B Deluxe. I just read on Newegg that someone else was having a similar problem.

Should I return and get another one? Or is it a bad cable to blame?

Have you tried connecting the drive directly to the MoBo using a normal SATA cable then repeating the test?
