Hey I have a Westell dsl modem and a Linksys 10/100 router. My ethernet port on my motherboards pc is a 10/100/1000. My question is if i add another ethernet card to one of my pci slots wont that add on card be able to access the internet since i already have the connection attached by a different port? When i stream blu ray movies to my ps3 via the 10/100 router the movie freezes up when i try to fast forward. If i attach the ps3 to the 10/100/1000 port everything plays smooth but since its connected to the ps3 and not the router i no longer have internet connection. Basically since my computer has internet access can i add a gigabyte ethernet card and will that card have internet access even though my connection is attached thru another port or do i need to upgrade to a 10/100/1000 router?

I'm a fair bit confused. Just because one connection has internet access, that doesn't mean the other does...unless you bridge them or something of that nature. Your movies shouldn't freeze over a 100mbit line. Mine don't freeze over wireless G, which has a maximum of 54mbit. Sounds like some sort of software issue.
So you're connecting your PS3 directly to your pc in the gigabit port, and then it plays smooth? That's rather odd to do without a crossover cable, but I'm a zero when it comes to console setups.
There's no reason the movie shouldn't be smooth over the router with a 100mbit connection. I would exploit that issue.

Im weak on my network knowledge so im unsure of alot. When i attach my network cable directly to my motherboards ethernet port(gigabyte) it plays fine. however when i have it connected to my router and try to fast forward or skip to say 40 minutes into the movie thats when i get long pauses and freezes.

Could you possibly draw a picture, just to keep things straight? I think I know what you're getting at, but I'm not sure.

right except since my pc only has one ethernet port i cant have the router attached to my pc so the first picture would be

okay. that's what i meant by the pc not connected to router.

but that's crap, the connection should do fine over 100mbit. I'd take a look at your router settings. something's causing a problem there.
