I know there is a lot of threads about Blu Ray vs HD DVD.
But they don't talk much about digital data and are over-simplified.

This is a computer forum and I care about data.
From what I know Blu Ray has every advantage: More Capacity, Scratch resistant, faster read/write, longer shelf life., etc. I Personally don't like Sony (just because they make everything, so how can they be good on 1 thing?) But for data, Blu Ray seems best.
Any thoughts?

I'm also looking for a Blu Ray burner. A 50gb model is still $999. When will this go down to below $200 ??

Thanks!

I have a blu-ray burner for backup and burning videos, it has worked surprisingly well and as you said, the disks are REALLY scratch resistant, like REALLY REALLY scratch resistant (its almost kind of scary). Anyhow, the only thing with this technology is that you are going to have to be a very patient person, burning 50 gb at 2x isn't exactly the fastest thing in the world, but it sure beats using half a dozen dvds.

I personally have still yet to see an hd-dvd burner for sale anywhere, so if you want to be able to bur very large capacities right now, blu-ray is pretty much the only way to go. As for your down to 200 dollar question, don't expect to see anything like that in the near future.

Nuke it, Nuke it good!
