More Information

I purchased an MSI P6N SLI Platinum motherboard with a Q6600, only to realize that I cannot run my memory at the full 1066MHz (the board only recognizes it as 800MHz.) Goofing around, I noticed I could manually set the frequencies of the CPU/Memory, so I changed it from 800 to 1066, and surprise surprise, was able to boot. It's actually the setting I'm using right now. Is this "okay"? Am I frying my Northbridge? I put the extra fan onto it from the motherboard kit...

For reference, the memory is "mushkin eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) with EPP Profile Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 996535 - Retail"
