More Information

Hello,

I have a dual-boot system with Windows XP Home Ed (32-bit) and Vista Home Premium (64-bit).

I want an application to back-up my files to DVD or HDD and create system restore disk to reinstall Windows with all update and drivers in case of problems. If I could include some applications it would be even better, like Nero 7 Platinum edition under Vista that takes about 1 hours to install with all necessary update to make it works.

So, I saw that the new Norton Ghost 12 can basicly do all this. My questions are:

  • Will my dual-boot boot.ini will stay intact in case a recovery is necessary? I'm asking because I want to make sure I would still have the option between XP and Vista at start-up.
  • Is there other better or free (I doubt about the last one) alternative?

Any link or answer would be appreciated. I will probably go purchase it this coming thursday. Thanks for your input.

Checkout Acronis Truimage. I know it works with Vista x64. You might have to call them and ask them about the Dual boot part. I dont see any reason why it would not though.
