Hello,

I am a somewhat of a newbie and have a few questions about using a Raptor for the OS/application drive and a WD320 for data. How do redirect files such as My Documents, My Pictures, etc. to read from the data disk if My Document "shortcut" is on the Raptor drive?? Also, Is it possible to put some applications on the data drive that I don't commonly use?? I am using XP Pro, Asus P4P800D motherboard, P4 3.0g, 1gig memory. I apologize if this has been asked, but searches don't bring up what I am looking for.

I have an almost identical setup with a 74 gb raptor as primary with xp pro and 400 gb secondary for data. I don't have the documents re-routed but merely make a copy of it once in a while. That could be a bit of a pain in the butt cause Microsoft isn't the best at allowing for re-routing. I have had a terrible time with dual displays.

It shouldn't be this way. I'll be watching. Yeah I know you can install apps on the secondary drive and that won't cause problems running. Thats easy to do and when you are creating the program directory just specify the drive letter for the secondary drive, thats not an issue at all.

The my docs folder is a whole other issue! Good luck on that one cause I have no idea.

To remap My Documents all you have to do is to right click it on the Start Menu, select Properties and then change the Target Folder Location.

Same principle with My Pictures, etc.

Personally I don't use all that MS My * crap though - I like to control where I put my files myself. So if I reinstall Windows I don't have to remember to do such stuff again. Keeps the data safer.

I knew someone would know! I am like ethel and I don't like to use that stuff so I don't know how to do those things. You have a good setup from my experience. Just make sure to have adequate active cooling (on those HDD drives). Also a nice tool to use is, if you have an ATI card, ati tray tools because of the HDD taskbar temp monitors.
