I just recently bought an HP Officejet J6480.

This may be a very dumb question.

This printer can be set up as a network printer via the wireless 802.11 b/g or by connecting the printer directly to the router using a cable

The HP software works very well. I've already set up the printer as a network printer using the 802.11 b/g wireless connection. However, I get slow print speeds from one networked computer.

My question, will I get faster print speeds from the networked computers if I connect the printer directly up to the router using a CAT-5(?) cable (as opposed to the wireless connection) and then set up the network?

I know all the data will be passing through the same router so maybe it doesn't make a difference. One HP tech told me the wired connection would be faster. Another said it wouln't make a difference.

I'm so confused!

Thanks for your input.

Depends on the speed of the cable connection and the speed of the wireless connection. But normally printers do not use that much bandwith and thus it prob wont make much of a difference between wired and wireless.

Its just one terminal Printing slowly right ? the rest is ok ? Checked for spooling problems ?

Last time i heard something similar we found it was norton AV that was messing around. Silly, but True. in this case im talking, you ordered the print, and after 5 mins or so the printer worked.

About LAN speed, spazzma is right.
