ealier versions of the RP614 are apparently equiped w/ only a 10Mbps WAN port

this would certainly be raining on your 11.1Mbps internet connection parade

if you indeed have the older versions then yes it is time for a new router.

Thank You

Im very disappointed in netgear for marketing there products that way.
I searched for hours and found nothing online showing that was the problem.

This morning i had a download speed of 29.2mbps. It took three months but comcast finally got it right. Off to find a router that can handle those speeds.

Comcast where? I have comcast in Minneapolis, my speeds are no where near that... (not even an option, just 6/8 Mbit) Maybe I need to upgrade MY router....

Go to the netgear website and see if there is a more current microcode download available for your router. Sometimes it will fix these types of problems.

Story...

1 year old d link router at work. I hook up a pc at the other end of our office, takes me an hour to lay the cat5. Cant connect, cant ping. Rest of the net works ok. Long story short, took an hour to remove then another hour to put in new cable. Same story GRRR
Ended up figuring out the router was FUBAR.

Around the same time at home, net starts being REAL slow. Lan transfer is perfic tho... grrr.

Got the replacement router for work yesterday (i had to buy a new one), so instead of flogging this1 on ebay, i installed it at home... just to see.

BANG! Net is perfic.

So yeah... 2 routers dead in a month.

Get a new one

resolved

I guess netgear just has a mean marketing plan. This first gen rp614 (which mine was) are marketed with a 10/100 automatic settings. This in very missleading. Once you open the box and read the actual specs is 10 lan and 10/100 wan. So the router is fine it just is to old to do what I want.

There site says that none of the other firmware is supported on the first gen.
So I got a new router speeds are back in the +20mbps.

It 6:00 pm here. Speeds are alot faster late evening or early morning

This is on comcast 8mb plan the offer a minimum of 8mb but dont specify a maximum. It just depends on you area.

This results are with a new netgear rp614 vs 4, about the same without it
