i want to know will there be any benifit changing my home dsl modem to a router.will i notice any increase in speed and stability in connection??

I'm guessing it's a modem / router all in one. The advantage to that is that you can have multiple people online at the same time w/o having to pay for additional lines or IP's.

No. The main benefit is stated above. You also get some additional security w/ the routers firewall / port filtering abilities.
