Hi there, am new to this forum and only know a little about the overclocking of the new AMD Athlon 64 X2 Processors...My specs are below, I bought this pc so that i could get a decent overclock..



- 3800 X2 @ 2.4GHZ (240*10) 1.25V

- Asus M2N-VM DH Motherboard

- 2GB DDR2 800MHZ @ 880MHZ

- POV 8800GTS 320MB @ 660/850

- 3x DVD DRIVES

- 300GB HDD AND 500GB HDD

- 400W PSU



My problem is that when i change the voltage in the bios..it boots but when i switch off and switch it back on the bios does not boot...i have to restart it then it boots with an error..i go into the bios and change the voltages back to normal...then i have to change the voltages back up so that it boots..its a bit complicated but it works...why does this happen :? ?



One other thing was i set my DDR2800 down to DDR2400,HTT Multi down to 4x (tried 3x aswel) and raised the FSB to 260..it boots fine..but when loading windows i get a blue screen...



My motherboard gives me the following options for the Vcore - AUTO/1.2/1.3

but which ever setting i choose I always get the 1.2V and it does not increase...



Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

Is ur Quiet and cool On?? Cause that needs to be off before ocing.
...also make sure ur not upping ur voltage too much at one time.

Thats switched off and i cant upp my voltage at all...i only have 3 settings like i mensioned but all of them give me 1.25v..i have left the AMD Live! enabled...I have disabled all the spread spectrums...

A 400W PSU is a bit low for that setup, especially with overclock. What make/model PSU? What are the 12v current totals.
Does the BIOS show the correct CPU spec on monitor at boot? 1.25V is low for that CPU. If hyper multiplier is on 4x, try FSB at 250.You may need BIOS update.

Well i just replaced the PSU witha 450W COLORS PSU it says 230VAC and 10A...at the moment the pc is on 2.5ghz and temperatures are 36C idle...its low dont you think? The ddr ram is set to DDR400 and 3X HTT..

I'm sorry, but a £15 PSU is NOT suitable for a high power system. Many PSUs in this price range are just rebadged 350W. For that video card, requirement is total 12V supply of 30A. When you do some serious gaming you will be pushing that supply to its maximum output. It may well go unstable and fail, taking other components with it! You get what you pay for! You should buy a decent brand of PSU, at least £45. Check for BIOS update, may fix the voltage problem.
