Hey all,

Does anyone know if there are miniATX motherboards out there that have better on board graphics then a Nvidia 6150?

I know Nvidia and ATI have mobile graphics cards like the Geforce Go 7800GTX. Can we buy a motherboard with these kinds of GPUs in them. It would allow me to make a much thinner HTPC then I can at present. The size of the PCI slot is the limiting factor thus a better onboard option would be preferable.

I have toyed with the idea of a laptop motherboard but its not the easiest option and would mean having to destroy a $2000 laptop just to build a HTPC which isn't really feasible.

If anyone has a better suggestion then I'm all ears.

The guys here are discussing the same thing: http://forumz.tomshardware.com/har [...] 41436.html

It appears there are a few newer integrated chipsets just coming out but not too many reviews yet.

The mobile "super cards" aka, laptop video cards are still video cards, just smaller. There are no "Go" or ati equivalent cards available as a built-in option on laptops/motherboards...

As Pirate said, there are some newer options then the 6150, but nothing near what you suggest.

Actually, if you're building an HTPC, won't the tuner card also occupy a slot and thus require an enclosure tall enough for it? If that's the case, you're allready at the point where you have the room for a video card.

It sounds like you're at the point where where you want to stuff 10 pounds of stuff into a 5 pound bag. If you want the smallest footprint available with existing off the shelf technology, how about using a small notebook with a tuner and decent video card as your HTPC? Unfortunately, that seems to override any cost savings.

as well as AMD's 690G nVidia have just released a refresh of their IGP chipset so 6150 is replaced by7050.
Boards with it (e.g. abit's AN-M2/AN-M2HD) are already in retail.
