I am considering 3 PSU for my build, Seasonic M12 500W Modular PSU, OCZ StealthXStream 600W PSU SLI Ready ATX2.2 12cm LED Fan, OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU 120mm Fan SLI Ready ATX12v v2.2. Which is better? Heres my build;

I like the Seasonic.

I have the OCZ 700watt. For me, it works wonderful. Its quiet, looks good, and runs cool.

I am not, however, stressing this PSU at all.

For the price, I don't really think you can beat the OCZ GameXstream 700. I got mine for $101 shipped (after MIR) from ZipZoomFly.

Silverstone PSUs are also very good

The OCZ ones have several reported issues, as well as questionable manufacturing company.

Seasonic is very good, also modular. The Energy Plus series (550w and 650w) are superb and quite popular on this forum (eg Skyguy). They are very similar to the Corsair HX series psus.

They are similar because seasonic makes corsair's units.

Deffinately go with the 700watt psu,as this will insure that it supplies enough power for your video card.Especially if you decide to purchase a second card for SLI.The 8800GTX is a tad power hungry after all.Goodluck.P,S.You might want to check out WWW.THERMALTAKE.COM, and see what they have to offer.I currently run a 850watt toughpoer PSU from thermaltake and am very satisfied with it.

I would definately stay away from the OCZ psus. They have a power ripple issue which can damage hardware over time.

Seasonic, Corsair, FSP, Thermaltake, Silverstone, Enermax, PC Power&Cooling, Tagan, Zalman, and Hiper are all very good companies with excellent PSUs. If you are running a GTX, look for a PSU with at least 34 max amps. You can find this out @ Mpilchfamily's PSU Reference List US

Now, you bash OCZ, but praise FSP? The FSP Epsilon and OCZ GameXstream are basically the same PSU.

To OP- that TT 750 from Fry's looks like the best deal in this thread.

I was discussing the OCZ PSUs with Mpilchfamily not that long ago. He had taken them off of his reference list because of questionable manufacturing origin. He said that OCZ switched suppliers so often, and that the quality varied so much that he could no longer recommend them.

I agree though, for a high-powered machine, the TT750w is a perfect fit.

Well, I read the review from [H] above and they had ripple issues with the unit.

I am happy with mine so far, but it is likely that I am putting no more then 300 watts on it and will likely never put more then 600 watts on it, so I am confident it will serve me well. Ripple issues appear to occur when 85% load or higher is reached.

Even with 2 2900/8800s an AMD 6000+@3.2 and multiple drives, I'll still be under 600 watts, lol.

I know JonnyGuru measured the 12V ripple on the OCZ at something like 120mV under load. I measured mine at ~60 to 80mV under load when it was new and after 1.5 years of use, it is now about 10mV higher. Those are pretty good specs and it has been worked hard. XFire with OC'ed GPUs and CPU, 8 HDs, 2 opticals, that's a load. My PCP&C Silencer 750's ripple measurements are very close to my OCZ's, just a little bit better.
