More Information

Hey all, I live in an apartment complex that servers students. The complex provides internet and is managed by the IT guys here in the building. I have been getting unplayable pings with CoD4 but not in CS or CS:S and I can't figure out what the issue is. Here is a tracert to my CoD4 server. Any help would be most appreciated.

Problem is outside your local network so I doubt there is much you can do. If you change servers do the pings change at all?

Okay, well I've found that I can connect to European servers (I'm American) and maintain a regular 150 ping, however all American servers are 400+ ping.. this isn't adding up.

Sounds like you have some kind of proxy in the EU or something. I don't see any other reason that a place in the US would have a higher ping than somewhere overseas.

That or the ISP's connections in the US are just garbage or just out of bandwidth.

I'm going to go along with this:

If you have the option to, try switching ISP's.

Well I doubt I can do that, so :\ I was wondering if there could possibly be a Call of Duty config that I could alter but I'm pretty much out of ideas and pretty much fed up with trying. Seems I have wasted $50.

If I am reading this right. You bought a COD4 server from a game server host? If so have them look into this. Give them your ISP info and have them try a ping to it. They may fix it.

If it's just a game server you randomly picked out and play regularly then contact an admin of that game server. They may contact them for you. When I had a CS:S and a BF@ server people would email on these types of issues and I just forward them onto the game server host company. Some they fixed some they couldnt due restriction from that ISP.
