Hi, i've been having trouble with my internet over the past couple of months, it will randomly just go out for hours at a time, I thought it might of been my computer but its doing the same thing on my bran new comp. I was wondering what should I do, the current modem I havbe is a "speedstream 5100" the thing is pretty old, will a new one fix the problem or is it something else? Also when I do connect my internet is slow as hell, it takes me forever to download stuff and I get bad ping on online games.

Why don't you connect your phone company and have them troubleshoot your connection? If you're in the US, you can check the forums at www.broadbandreports.com as well.

Contact the provider. They might even issue you a new modem to stay up and current.

Either 2 things are wrong
1: bad wiring in your house. Either a wire pair broke somewhere or gone bad

2:Somewhere either at your dmarc or outside circuit box a pair is bad or broken.

I had this similar issue where if I was on for awhile I got dropped. Seems a tech was adding somebodies new phone and accidently(yeah right) broke one of my pairs. So the only pairs connected would flood and kill the connection.
