More Information

I have been wanting to dabble with longer range wireless adapters for some time now but have many questions. I just could not find answers in the FAQ's and no one was asking if the forums. I am sure many would want to know the community's stance on my questions so I posted in the general.

1) I am looking for a long range Wi-Fi adapter that is backward compatible with a/b/g or just b/g. Any Suggestions?

2) I am thinking of going with 802.11n Draft adapter (but will settle for G). N is what I should get for maximum range+ data rate right?

3) Does anyone have a DIY suggestion or a FAQ to point me to?

4) How about those PCI adapters with removable antenas is it worth buying a cheap one and placing a higher DBi antenna for extra range?

5) I have seen many solutions from cookware with usb adapters to products from this site

I am just interested in picking up signals from a 10 house radius in a normal suburb . Are they even worth the money?

I know it's a lot of stuff, any information will be much appreciated.
