More Information

I would like to increase the range on my laptop what is the best way to do this? Here is the situation, I am no longer able to access the internet at work because my company is turning into big brother. They are monitoring peoples sessions and it is a bit out of control.

So here is what I am trying to do. I have a Toshiba laptop that is pretty new with Vista. It has a built in wireless card 8.11g and all that. I work on the 7th floor of a standard office building in a large city and there is a hotel right next door. The hotel has free wifi but I can only get 1-2 bars, the connection drops frequently. The routers are probably on the 1st floor of the hotel so I would guess 30-40 yards. There are actually tons of free wireless places like coffee shops within a block. I can not see them though.

My options are an internal N card but they probably do not have a N router, so that would not do anything?

a USB wireless adaptor or an antenna that I can point at the hotel. I want to spend less than $50 bucks.

Can anyone suggest a part i could buy?

Thank you
