More Information

Hi all. I'm not all that tech savvy so I hope someone can help me. I have a Toshiba laptop (XP SP2) that works ok when hard wired to a Paradyne 6212 ADSL modem/router for ADSL. I connect wirelessly through a Linksys WRT54G router. I can surf the net wirelessly but when using some programs, especially Yahoo Messenger, I keep getting kicked off. I did a continuous ping this morning to Yahoo.com and every so often I would get a time out. This is especially frustrating when trying to voice chat with friends as I have to keep signing back into Yahoo Messenger.

I do lose my ADSL link now and then and my ISP is looking into it but the issue I'm trying to resolve is why do I get kicked off Yahoo when my ADSL link is up. I know this because I kept the Paradyne page open while signed into Yahoo M and noticed that I do get kicked off Yahoo when the ADSL link is fine. The only way I can connect to Yahoo is using the "Firewall No Proxies" connection preference.

Any help/advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Annie
