A week ago, I bought a Neatgear wireless-N router from my local electronics store. I got the router up and running in about 10 minutes, and it detected my wireless devices without a problem. The router works great!

Just recently, I read some very horrible, sub-standard reviews on NewEgg for all Netgear routers - including mine. I haven't bought a replacement agreement for this product, so I've only got about 30 or 60 days or so. But considering the bad reviews, I feel forced to return it in case of failure.

I've never felt the need to return a perfectly operational piece of equipment because of potential failure. Should I return this product for a more reliable router? If so...what brand should I go for?

Any advice or insight are appreciated. Thanks! :)

First, you have to take all customer reviews with a shaker of salt. Some are very good and others are what they are. Check the reviews and see what most concern problem are, e.g., difficulty connecting, lost signals, die after a couple weeks/months. What ever the perceived problems are, if it's not a problem for you, then I wouldn't worry about it. If there are a large percentage of people having them die on them, I'd consider taking it back. I would guess routers and wireless cards as a whole get lower ratings just because people don't follow the directions and screw up the installation or can set up the computers once it's installed
