I'm about to build a new rig. I've about 1200.00 bucks to build it. I've all the basic stuff already, keyboard, mouse, monitor, 3TB drive, etc. I'm looking for input on what I've picked out for the meat and potatoes of the rig. It's a game computer I need to last about 5 years. Right now I play Skyrim, Mass Effect, SWTOR, etc. I see what I have picked out as being upgradable for a while.
This is what I have picked out. I can't go over the 1200.00 mark. The one thing I see in this build that I might be able to do better is the memory possibly. I'm looking at what you all might suggest to change, or if you think something might be better.
Heres the build with links to the parts. What do you think?
CPU COOLER:
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7

gpu:
i dont follow ati cards so i cannot say. normally i suggest taking one step down from whatever the top tier card is at the time
psu:
i have a 1000w corsair. great products. however there are other more budget oriented products available if you need to shift a few dollars.
memory:
i prefer ocz or mushkin myself. 8gb should be fine for a dual channel system.
mobo:
i have a high end asus mainboard. its been good to me so far. just make sure you get one with the features you want.
cpu:
personally i'd suggest taking a step up to a low end i7. you can probably shift things around to make this work. i picked an i7-920 myself when i built mine.
cpu cooler:
why? for the money spent on a cooler you could have been closer to getting an i7. the stock cooler is fine and there is no reason to overclock an i7.
ssd:
at the time the ocz vertex2 sandforce controller ssd was a great buy for me at around $100. 64gb is probably the bare minimum you should go with. however, i would suggest 80gb as you will be installing some core programs and perhaps a few games on it.
as always ... double check your sockets, cables, connections, etcetera.
