First build could use some help

Hello, and thanks for taking time to read this. I'm new to these forums, and hope this is the right place for this poxg. Please notify if it isn't.

Here is my situation. I have been taking apart scrap computers for recycling for a while now, and realized there isn't much to putting one together... or so i though. I have read threw every manual on my products multiple times, and can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. Every thing appears to be connected correctly, but when I try to power it on the cpu fan, and rear exhaust fan spin for a second, or two then go off. I'm wondering if something could be a defective product now.

Could someone please give some tips on what it could be, and how to diagnose it?


Here is my system.

Asus m588-v evo mobo

Amd fx 6100 3.3 gig cpu

Raidmax rx-700ac psu

1tb western digital caviar black hd

Patriot viper xtreme ddr3 ram

Sony optiarc bdrw

Xclio windtunnle case.

All of the above are new. I also installed a dvd rw, and 320 gig western digital hd from my old dell. Lost some info on the old pc when fans went out and fried the mother board. Was hoping to get it back with the new system, but iv'e got to get it running first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
