Why cameras don't talk to each other?

Hello,I have 3 cameras of different brands. Photos or videos taken on one are mostly not readable on another brand. Lost a Kodak MD30, Canon PC1226 broken. Left with Fuji JX250 which could not access videos and some pics on the first 2 cameras.

check the file extensions. i'll bet that they are different file types. in any case...why are you using your camera to view them instead of your laptop/pc? if its that big of a deal just convert the file formats to work with your new camera.
