I am looking for a Laptop I can do gaming off of (Nothing major, Amnesia The Dark Descent, TF2, Portal, and games like that) on medium quality smoothly.

I would prefer anything but Acer.

Battery life around 3 hours give or take.

Would love to be using it over 3+ years from now

I also want to be able to hook up a guitar interface, midi, or Mic to it to do some basic recording with mixcraft amd sony acid.

One of my friends pointed me to this beast but I would like other opinions,

Take a look at this one...
HP G72-250US 17.3-Inch Laptop

Intel Core i3-350m processor
Ten Pad (numeric pad)
4GB DDR3 System Memory (maximum supported is 8GB)
17.3 inch High Definition HP BrightView LED Display
Intel HD Graphics (up to 1696MB total)
Altec Lansing speakers
HP webcam with integrated microphone
5-in-1 Digital Media Reader

Doesn't have the i5 processor or 6GB RAM but the i3 is enough for your purposes and you can later upgrade both processor and RAM, but you can't upgrade the screen on the Toshiba or add the numeric pad
