hello...
im planning on building and mainly just for HTPC and for everyday use for internet and this are the specs:

mobo: GIGABYTE 880gm-ud2h [url=http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3475#ov][/url]
cpu: semrpon 140
ram: 4gb ripjaws cl9
PSU: OCZ MODX 500w
HD : 2x500 caviar blue

For +/-$20.00+ US you could get an Athlon II Dual Core with a significant increase in peformance and somewhat better graphics. You could unlock the Sempron's second Core, the GA 880gm mobo has the capacity to unlock and overclock the processor, but there's no guarantee it will work safely for a normal lifetime, they say Semprons are Athlons II with a locked deffective Core, so unlocking it is not guaranteed to last or perform the same as an Athlon II Dual Core...

Besides, that's a good performance motherboard and can handle a much better processor, I would suggest a 3 or 4 Core Athlon or even a Phenom, but at the very least a dual core Athlon II 240 for some $20 bucks more. The rest is all a cool selection of hardware.
