Newegg RMA difficulty

Forum Opinions and Experiences : Computer Shops Newegg RMA difficulty

I've been worked into a corner on a Newegg RMA recently. I initially purchased a couple of HIS AMD 6950 video cards for a crossfire setup in a new machine I was building.

After installing all of the components I found that one card would not run beyond 1x speed and therefore would not work for crossfire. After opening a support ticket with HIS they suggested I RMA the card through the retailer of initial purchase.

So I contacted Newegg about an RMA. They issued me one but I had to pay for shipping. So I read their RMA instructions and they said to ship back everything I recieved including installation software, connectors, etc. So as I still had all of the boxes from this build I put everything back together as it was initially shipped to me. I even found the original Newegg box with the packing peanuts still inside.

Now, there is one fault I will admit here. Since I purchased two identical cards I grabbed one of the HIS boxes for return and I grabbed the box for the working card. I still have the box for the broken card with me. They are stirred up about the box having the wrong serial number on the outside.

So I pay for the insurance on the shipment and send it back. About 3-4 days later I get an email that the RMA has been received and will be reviewed. After a day or two I'm sent an email saying that they failed to receive the proper box (explained above)the molex connectors, the software, and the crossfire bridge. Basically saying that all they received back was the bad card.

So I contact them via their online chat and explain the situation. They say they'll check again but I receive another message back a few days later that says they are still missing the parts. So I ask them what I can do for a resolution and I'm told that I have to come up with the missing parts. They suggest I get them from the manufacturer (who is in China and doesn't have a good method for getting these individual parts from what I can tell. Although I could be wrong.)

Since I bought two cards and I'm at the end of my rope I ask if I can send back my own personal parts (which I won't be reimbursed for) to complete the RMA and the support person has to ask his supervisor if I am allowed to gift my own parts to Newegg to get a functional card which has been paid for.

Has anyone else had this trouble with Newegg and if so, how did you fix it? Should I be contacting my back to do a chargeback? Does the BBB have any teeth to get this fixed? I'm lucky as hell that I didn't just buy one card as if I had I wouldn't be able to send my own parts back as a last ditch effort to get the RMA unstuck.
